Post Staff Report
The Patriots may have video taped another team before they were caught filming Jets’ coaches this season.
Citing an unnamed source, The Boston Herald reported today that a member of the Patriots’ video department taped the St. Louis Rams’ final walk-through before Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002. The Patriots won that game on a last-second field goal.
Patriots vice president of media relations Stacey James said, “The coaches have no knowledge of it,” when contacted last night by the Herald.
This season NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during New England’s 38-14 victory over the New York Jets in the season opener. The employee was accused of aiming his camera at the Jets’ defensive coaches as they signaled to players on the field.
Goodell fined Coach Bill Belichick $500,000 and docked the team $250,000 and a first-round draft pick. It was the biggest fine ever for a coach and the first time in NFL history a first-round draft pick has been confiscated as a penalty
