The Boston Herald reports the Red Sox have traded infielder Julio Lugo to the Cardinals for outfielder Chris Duncan.

It had been speculated Lugo would join the Mets after being designated for assignment by Boston, even reportedly working out at the team’s complex.

Earlier today, the Red Sox acquired first baseman Adam LaRoche in a trade with the Pirates.
