St. Edmund Prep is quickly forging a reputation as the road warriors of CHSAA Class A.
With a signature win at Archbishop Stepinac already under their belt, the Eagles picked up a historic victory at Iona Prep, defeating the Gaels, 57-55, in double overtime Sunday in New Rochelle.
David Louison had 26 points and 14 rebounds, Chris Tsatsis had nine points and Greg Beehler added eight points for St. Edmund Prep (8-3, 4-0 CHSAA A-South), which won for the first time since 2000 at Iona Prep.
“We played our best all-around game of the season in terms of showing toughness, composure and character,” St. Edmund Prep coach Dan Wiatre said. “David Louison and Greg Beehler made some outstanding plays and I thought a subtle key to the game was the defense of Chris Labady on Felix Abongo and Nick Grasso on their guards.”
James Gallery had 24 points, including a tying 3-pointer with two seconds left in the first overtime, seven rebounds and five steals and Ben Borsellino added nine points and five assists for Iona Prep (6-4, 4-1 CHSAA A-North).
