ROD: NO DEALS ON HORIZON
NET NOTES
MILWAUKEE – The Nets figure to be done dealing. Finally.
At least for now.
There is a whole off-season approaching when the Nets should be active. But for now – having acquired Vince Carter, Cliff Robinson and Elden Campbell in the past two-plus months – the Nets appear ready to let today’s 3 p.m. trading deadline come and go without any need to get in the transactions table.
“Not a thing,” team president Rod Thorn said. “We’re not actively looking to do anything and I haven’t been getting any [serious] phone calls.”
One trade area where Thorn is certain involves Jason Kidd. The point guard has been cranky lately – unhappy about extended playing time, seeking a trade, ripping the team’s shoddy play Tuesday. Maybe it’s Kidd trying to buy a ticket out of New Jersey but Thorn repeatedly has said he has no intentions of trading him. That stance has not changed.
“That is correct,” Thorn said.
“I’m a Net and the trade deadline is tomorrow and I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere,” said Kidd, who has sought a trade to Minnesota.

Nenad Krstic (viral infection) and Rodney Buford (ankle) both possible tomorrow against Bobcats . . . Milwaukee’s Michael Redd, headed for unrestricted free agency, is a prized target but made his choice clear.
“I want to retire a Buck. This organization took a chance on me five years ago drafting me on the second round,” Redd said.
Thorn addressing Kidd’s harsh critique of the team: “He’s a competitive guy and he can’t accept the way we played, which was awful.”
An Internet gambling site had the Nets at 75-1 to win the title when the season started. They’ve been downgraded to 140-1.
