Manhattan College yesterday announced the firing of head basketball coach Barry Rohrssen after five seasons, and said the search for his successor will begin immediately,
Rohrssen compiled a record of 58-95 in Riverdale, including a 33-64 mark in the MAAC. This season, the Jaspers finished 6-25 and were ousted from the MAAC tournament in the first round.
“Barry is a true gentleman who has represented Manhattan College very well,” Director of Athletics Robert Byrnes said. “As we make a difficult decision to move the program forward, we remain committed to the academic and personal, as well as the athletic, development of our student athletes. We wish Barry well and thank him for his service.”
Rohrssen arrived at Manhattan after 13 years as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh, UNLV and St. Francis of Brooklyn.
