S.I. PREZ ARGUES ON WFAN
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Staten Island LL prez Bob Johnson had a contentious 18-minute interview with WFAN’s Chris Carlin yesterday to defend statements in Saturday’s Post, in which he ripped the Yankees and Mets for not making more generous donations to offset the mammoth costs for the families. The on-air argument, which included Carlin calling Johnson an “extortionist,” ended with Johnson hanging up.
However, Johnson was apologetic about his Post attack of A-Rod and George Steinbrenner, saying, “If I offended anyone or insulted anyone, it was not my intention.” The Yankees pledged $5,000. Johnson said he’s grateful for the sponsorships of Modell’s, Sleepy’s and SportsKool for their donations.
