S. SHORE PAYS BIG PRICE
The PSAL Brooklyn Borough championships began Tuesday without South Shore, which likely would have been a six-seed in the eight-team tournament and qualified the Vikings for the playoffs.
But the league forced the Vikings – who had gone 6-8 – to forfeit all of their games because they used a fifth-year player. The junior varsity team had to forfeit 10 games for using ineligible players.
On the varsity level, the ruling is good news for Banneker, which now qualifies for the PSAL postseason. The first round begins on Feb. 26.
