Bengals rookie wide receiver Mohamed Sanu took a half-dozen snaps from the Wildcat to help his team prepare for Jets backup Tim Tebow in both team’s preseason opener on Friday night.

Sanu, who was taken in the third round out of Rutgers, was asked by Bengals.com if he can throw it better than the popular Tebow.

“Yeah, I think so. I’ve seen him throw,” Sanu said after Wednesday’s practice.

Tebow is expected to play two quarters in Cincinnati, though it will likely be more as a traditional backup quarterback. The Jets will likely want to keep their Wildcat formation with Tebow under raps for now.

In practice, Sanu missed receiver Marvin Jones on a 40-yard pass that came up short.

“I felt good. I felt like I got a good grip on it. It got stuck on my glove, but it still went where I wanted it to go,” Sanu said.

“I guess he didn’t expect to me to throw it that far. I didn’t know how fast he was running. I just saw his head, so I put it in there.”
