In Detroit, David Price had the longest outing of his young career to help the Rays beat the Tigers.

Price (7-6) lasted 7 1/3 innings and allowed a run and five hits. He struck out four and walked one.

Athletics 4, Angels 3

In Anaheim, Rajai Davis tied the score with a two-run single in the seventh inning off Rafael Rodriguez (0-1) and pinch-runner Eric Patterson scored the go-ahead run on an infield out in the eighth.

Indians 5, Orioles 3

In Baltimore, Andy Marte hit a three-run homer following a long rain delay, and Rafael Perez (4-2) pitched 1 1/3 innings to earn his third win in Cleveland’s last eight games.

Mariners 8, Royals 4

In Seattle, Mike Sweeney’s two-run double sparked a four-run first inning, helping the Mariners beat the team with which he spent 13 seasons.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Dodgers 11, Reds 4

In Cincinnati, Manny Ramirez hit the first of Los Angeles’ four homers, and the Dodgers blew a four-run lead before powering their way to victory.

Ramirez connected on a two-run shot in the first inning off left-hander Matt Maloney (0-3), his first homer since Aug. 11. Rafael Furcal hit a tiebreaking solo shot in the fifth, and Matt Kemp and Orlando Hudson homered as the Dodgers pulled away.

Cardinals 9, Nationals 4

In St. Louis, Matt Holliday and Colby Rasmus each hit a three-run homer to power the surging Cardinals. Albert Pujols went 2 for 3 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI.

Giants 5, Rockies 3

In San Francisco, Barry Zito carried a shutout into the ninth inning, Pablo Sandoval homered and San Francisco moved within a game of Colorado for the NL wild-card lead by winning for the fourth time in five games.

Padres 7, Marlins 4

In Miami, Tony Gwynn Jr.’s two-run triple broke an eighth-inning tie, Oscar Salazar had three hits and the Padres beat the reeling Marlins.

Braves 9, Phillies 1 (8)

In Philadelphia, Garret Anderson hit a three-run homer off Cliff Lee and three other Braves went deep to hand the Phillies’ new ace his first NL loss in a rain-shortened game.

D’Backs 9, Astros 0

In Phoenix, Mark Reynolds hit his 40th homer and Jon Garland threw seven sharp innings in a Diamondbacks rout.

Brewers 7, Pirates 3

In Milwaukee, pinch-hitter Jody Gerut doubled to score the go-ahead run and the Brewers rallied off Kevin Hart’s wildness for their 20th straight win over the Pirates in Miller Park.
