Secret Status will attempt to hold on to the claim as the best three-year-old filly in the country currently in training as she faces six other fillies, including a Shug McGaughey-entry, in the Grade 1, $250,000 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont today.

This is the second leg of the Triple Tiara for three-year-old fillies and it will be run at a mile and an eighth.

Secret Status comes into the Mother Goose with a two race winning streak. After finishing third in the Davona Dale, she was given Lasix for her next start, the Grade 3 Florida Oaks. She showed improved speed and held off March Magic to win by a neck. She came back 10 weeks later and destroyed the competition while coming off the pace to win the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks.

She comes in to the Mother Goose with a bullet of :59 4/5 breezing over the Belmont main track on Monday. Pat Day ships in for the mount.

The top two finishers in the Grade 1 Acorn will attempt to upset Secret Status. Finder’s Fee has shown an affinity for the Belmont main track. She is 4-for-7 lifetime at Belmont, including stakes victories in the Grade 1 Matron and Acorn. In her only attempt at this distance, she finished an even fourth to Jostle in the Grade 2 Demoiselle. She is a one run closer but may be compromised by a lack of pace in the race. She is also coupled with Cat Cay, who is coming off a second place finish to Pentatonic, who came back to finish second to Beautiful Pleasure in the Hempstead Handicap last Saturday.
