Atalanta and Lazio will be looking to stay atop the Serie A standings this weekend when they take on Catania and AC Milan, respectively.

Both teams have made a convincing start with two wins each in as many league games. Atalanta’s narrow win at Bologna last weekend — courtesy of a Tiberio Guarente goal — followed an equally slim 1-0 victory against Siena on opening day.

Luigi Del Neri’s men have a real chance of going clear at the summit this weekend, while Lazio face a winless AC Milan side that has a point to prove.

Catania, with one win under their belts, go into the encounter at the Angelo Massimino Stadium determined to make Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho eat his ill-judged comments following their meeting last weekend.

Mourinho upset Catania by claiming Inter would have won even if he had played in goal during the 2-1 victory. It was, in the end, an own goal by Catania defender Christian Terlizzi that handed Inter the three points.

Catania, who won their opening game against Genoa, will have to show plenty of determination up front if they wish to break Atalanta’s solid defensive line, which has yet to concede a goal.
