TODAY’S PLAY: Trying to improve on our last-place status we came up with these. In Race 6, single He Aint Bluffing in $20 doubles with first-time starters Maintainer and Lucci The Lion. Then $10 to win on longshot Pinch Pie in the stake. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: Evasive Cat,

13-1, looked good early but finished well off the board. The Shackleford “six furlongs on the muddy track experiment” did our doubles in. Lost $50.

TODAY’S PLAY: In the second race, $20 to win on main-track-only Majestic Hope; in the ninth, $30 to win on main-track-only Self Control. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: In the first race, Vapour Musing ($30 win, $20 place) loomed boldly with a wide rally turning for home but could not sustain her run. Lost $50.
