Danny Landberg had hopes of his Erasmus team contending for a PSAL title this season. Now he has to hope the Dutchmen survive the year.
“It’s extremely disappointing,” Landberg said of the numerous injuries that have besieged his players. “It feels unfair.”
Most damaging has been the likely season-ending broken foot suffered by senior RB Tommy Anderson – who gained 369 yards in three games before getting hurt – but Landberg still believes Erasmus, which hosts Canarsie today at noon, can succeed.
Canarsie lost Jamal Schulters before the year to prep school and are having problems of their own. Still, Landberg calls the Chiefs “the best 1-4 team” he’s ever seen. Prediction: Canarsie 14, Erasmus 12.
Chaminade at Holy Trinity, today, 1:30 p.m. – Everyone in the CHSFL is chasing St. Anthony’s. These are two of the best. Prediction: HT 22, Chaminade 16.
Brooklyn Tech at Lincoln, today, noon – Lincoln is trying to salvage its once-promising season. Prediction: Tech 22, Lincoln 12.
Holy Cross at Farrell, today, 1:30 p.m. – Farrell is too much for Cross. Prediction: Farrell 26, HC 14.
Iona Prep at Mt. St. Michael, today, 1:30 p.m. – Iona Prep (5-0) faces tough Mount. Prediction: Iona Prep 13, Mount 6.
Fort Hamilton at New Utrecht, today, noon – Fort Hamilton looking to move toward top of PSAL. Prediction: FH 28, New Utrecht 20.
Curtis at New Dorp, today, noon – Both teams need wins to stay in playoff hunt. Prediction: Curtis 20, ND 6.
