Cardinal Spellman picked up a quality win.
The host Pilots held off PSAL Bronx power DeWitt Clinton 7-3 in non-league softball Wednesday. Tiffany Rondon pitched a complete game giving up three runs and striking out four in the circle for Spellman. She was also 1-for-3 with an RBI triple. Christine Quinones went 1-for-2 with a walk, a sac bunt and a solo home run in the sixth. Clinton got all its runs in the sixth.
IVY LEAGUE
Horace Mann 13, Dalton 8: Kaitlyn Puglia went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead Horace Mann (4-1). Puglia, who had to catch for the first time ever with Ashley Gerber out with a rotator cuff injury, threw out three girls trying to steal. Paige McMahon was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Stephanie Chi was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
CHSAA BRONX/WESTCHESTER
St. Catharine Academy 9, Good Counsel 8: Diamond Villegas went 2-for-2 with five RBIs and three runs scored and Brianna Gragardi was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead SCA on Tuesday.
PSAL CLASS B
Frank Sinatra 16, Academy of American Studies 0: Deborah Witthauer tossed a five-inning no-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Sinatra (7-0 Queens B-I). Amber Saca went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and Breanna Taphouse went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Legends. American Studies is 2-6.
Economics & Finance 14, Baruch College Campus 4: Myasia Swan went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for Economics & Finance (5-3 Manhattan B-I). Baruch is 5-4.
Chelsea 13, Art & Design 8: Maila Medina and Amanda Guevara each had two hits to lead Chelsea (6-2 Manhattan B-I). Art & Design is 0-6.
