No, Jay Williams did not walk out on ESPN’s “First Take” hosts Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith because of any foul odors on the set.
But something must have reeked enough to make the former Duke star, and top NBA draft pick, storm off in a puff of smoke Tuesday morning.
After Kellerman let leak the possibility of Kawhi Leonard being a better big-shot maker than future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, Stephen A. let out an exasperated sigh and Williams got up for some fresh air before sitting back down to deal with what he saw as a rotten take.
After snuffing out Kellerman’s justification, Smith and Williams teamed up to clear the air and put forward what they saw as a surefire rebuttal.
Before long, Williams, who never played with Bryant in his injury-shortened career, had finally had enough, checking his phone on air and getting up, making sure to walk through Kellerman’s camera, leaving the cacophony of Smith’s breathless argument behind him.
