SEATTLE – Alex Rodriguez arrived at Safeco Field last night with a fever and a viral throat infection so severe he was sent home.

“I said, ‘Get out of here,’ ” Joe Torre said. “He could be infectious.” A-Rod was replaced by Nick Green at third. Torre didn’t know how long A-Rod would be out. Green made his fourth straight start and Torre joked, “Nick Green is going to need a day off soon.” Green subbed for ARod and Derek Jeter in Boston and Robinson Cano Tuesday night against the Mariners.
