NHL: Gagne returns, saves Flyers in OT
In Philadelphia, Simon Gagne made a timely return to the lineup from a broken right toe, scoring in overtime to help the Flyers hold off elimination by beating the Bruins 5-4 last night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

In Cincinnati, 20-year-old shortstop Starlin Castro arrived in the big leagues in style, hitting a three-run homer in his first at-bat and driving in six runs — a modern record for a debut — during the Cubs’ 14-7 victory over the Reds.
* In Philadelphia, 47-year-old Jamie Moyer threw a two-hitter as the Phillies beat the Braves 7-0.
* In Syracuse, Nationals prospect Stephen Strasburg allowed just one hit and struck out six over six scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut against the Gwinnett Braves.
COLLEGE: Calhoun gets 5-year, $13M deal
Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun, coming off a year marred by health problems, an NCAA investigation and a disappointing performance on the court, signed a five-year, $13 million contract, the school announced.
