TENNIS: Stosur, Schiavone roll
It’ll be Samantha Stosur against Francesa Schiavone in tomorrow’s women’s final of the French Open. In yesterday’s semifinals, Stosur overpowered Jelena Jankovic 6-1, 6-2 while Schiavone advanced when Elena Dementieva retired with leg injury after Schiavone had won the first set, 7-6 (3). In today’s men’s semifinals, Rafael Nadal takes on Jurgen Melzer and Robin Soderling faces Tomas Berdych.
* Skiing star Bode Miller made a quick exit from a U.S. Open qualifier yesterday in Honolulu, falling 6-4, 6-2 to Erik Nelson-Kortland in an opening match at the sectional playoffs.
SOCCER: Altidore hurts ankle
U.S. forward Jozy Altidore sprained his right ankle during a training drill and is day to day going into tomorrow’s final World Cup tuneup against Australia.
MLB: A’s blast Red Sox
Kurt Suzuki hit two of Oakland’s four homers as the Athletics overcame Boston’s 18-hit attack in a 9-8 victory yesterday at Fenway Park. . . . Zack Greinke‘s record fell to 1-7 as the Royals dropped a 5-4 decision to the Angels.

Dwyane Wade, in a bitter divorce fight, was awarded “physical possession” of his two sons by a judge in Chicago. Wade is in a divorce fight with his estranged wife.
* Former Bengals kicker Shayne Graham, who missed two important kicks in the AFC playoff loss to the Jets, signed a one-year deal with the Ravens.
* Jeremy Shockey, hospitalized last week following a seizure, is expected to practice during the Saints’ three-day minicamp that starts today.
* John Tavares, the Islanders’ franchise star, will spend the next month or so hobbling around on a cast on his right foot, but he is expected to be ready for training camp despite the fracture diagnosed Wednesday. –Mark Everson
