BLOTTER: Jail for Keough
Former All-Star pitcher Matt Keough was sentenced to a year in jail for driving drunk near his California home.
* The NFL fined Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson $15,000 for kicking the football into the stands on Sunday and displaying an unauthorized shirt with a personal message written on it.
* The attorney for Baylor guard LaceDarius Dunn said the university has cleared the star player to return to classes while he faces allegations that he broke his girlfriend’s jaw in a domestic dispute.
NBA: Union has gripe
The NBA players association is planning legal action over the league’s decision to issue more technical fouls for complaining. . . . Toronto’s Joey Dorsey was suspended for one game for taking a swing Tuesday at Bulls forward Brian Scalabrine.

World No. 1 Rafael Nadal lost to Austria’s Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the third round of the Shanghai Masters.
* Brewers radio announcer Bob Uecker, 75, needs surgery on his heart again after a tear was discovered at the site of his valve replacement.
