HOOPS: Shumpert joins All-Rookie team
Knicks guard Iman Shumpert was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie team along with Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving, Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio, Denver’s Kenneth Faried, Golden State’s Klay Thompson, San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard and Detroit’s Brandon Knight. Nets guard MarShon Brooks was named to the second team. He is the 13th Net to be an All-Rookie Team choice (seven first-team selections, six for second team).— Fred Kerber
The Warriors officially announced they will try to move back to San Francisco. The earliest the team could leave Oakland would be 2017 when its current lease ends.

Police in Oklahoma City arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a shooting that wounded eight people — including one critically — shortly after Sunday night’s Thunder-Lakers NBA playoff game. Police said the shooting didn’t appear connected to the game.

Kim Clijsters said this year’s U.S. Open will be her last tennis tournament before retiring. The 28-year-old Belgium star initially retired in 2007 because of injuries, but returned to the sport in 2009.
Joe Paterno earned a state pension of $13.4 million for his 61-year coaching career at Penn State. Paterno’s family said Paterno’s widow, Sue, would receive an initial payment of $10.1 million by the end of May, with the rest to be paid out over the next two years.
