NFL: Pats, ‘Boys on Peppers’ wish list

A day after the Panthers dismissed a report that defensive end Julius Peppers was close to being dealt to New England for a second-round pick, a person close to Peppers said the Patriots and Cowboys are on Peppers’ four-team wish list.

Phillies ace Cole Hamels will return to camp after a team physician found no structural damage in his sore left elbow.

NBA: Rockets forward shot in leg

Rockets forward Carl Landry, 25, was shot overnight near his Houston home. He sustained a minor wound to his left calf and is expected to miss only one to three weeks.

* Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva got a talking-to from coach Scott Skiles after the coach learned Villanueva posted a message to his Twitter feed from his mobile phone during halftime of Sunday’s home victory over Boston.

* In Cleveland, LeBron James dropped a long 3-pointer with 47.4 seconds left and added two free throws with 8.7 seconds to go as the Cavaliers registered a 97-93 win over the Magic.

GOLF: Tiger’s team falls in Tavistock

In Orlando, Graeme McDowell shot a 6-under 66 and the rest of his team at Lake Nona piled on to win the Tavistock Cup 17-13 against an Isleworth team led by Tiger Woods, who shot a 69 in his match.
