MLB: Diamondbacks put Big Unit on DL
The Diamondbacks placed pitcher Randy Johnson on the 15-day disabled list. Johnson, returning from offseason back surgery, is scheduled to make three minor-league starts before joining Arizona’s rotation in the third week of April.
* Pirates infielder Freddy Sanchez, last season’s NL batting champion, was placed on the 15-day disabled list and will miss at least four games.

NFL: Williams seeks reinstatement
Running back Ricky Williams, exiled for the entire 2006 season because of a fourth violation of the NFL substance-abuse policy, has triggered the process that could end his one-year suspension and lead to his reinstatement by the league, according to ESPN.com.
