The college basketball season is less than two days away from completion, and St. John’s already got some good news for next season. Star point guard Marcus LoVett Jr. announced on Twitter he will be returning for his sophomore season after initially toying with the idea of going pro.

The 6-foot LoVett, an All-Big East rookie-team selection, teamed with fellow freshman Shamorie Ponds to form one of the most potent backcourts in the Big East, a duo that averaged a combined 33.3 points per game.

I will continue to further my studies at St. John's university and continue to play in front of our amazing fans I'm I back? Oh yea!

The Post reported on Wednesday it was becoming likely LoVett would be back rather than going pro. St. John’s, coming off of an improved 14-win season, hopes to contend for the NCAA Tournament next year, and will add impact transfers Marvin Clark Jr. (Michigan State) and Justin Simon (Arizona), along with potentially other players on the transfer market. It also will have its electric backcourt, too.
