St. John’s ended its season with a 75-69 loss to host Richmond in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational last night.
The Red Storm was making its first postseason appearance since the 2003 NIT. The Johnnies finish with a 16-18 record. David Gonzalvez poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Spiders.

In Blacksburg, Va., Virginia Tech (19-14) got 33 points from A.D. Vassallo and scored on its first five possessions in the second overtime to overcome 46 points from Duquesne’s Aaron Jackson. Duquesne (21-13), made its first postseason appearance since the 1994 NIT.

In Waco, Texas, LaceDarius Dunn and Kevin Rogers each scored 20 points to lead the Bears (21-14) to their first postseason win since 1950.

In Gainesville, Fla., Nick Calathes broke out of a shooting slump with 19 points as Florida (24-10) cruised.

In Providence, R.I., Jack McClinton made seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points to pace Miami (19-12).

DeWayne Reed scored 23 points and Quantez Robertson added 19 both career highs to lead host Auburn (23-11).

In Omaha, Neb., P’Allen Stinnett scored 18 points, including two big free throws in the final minute to lead Creighton (27-7).

In Manhattan, Kan., Jacob Pullen scored seven of his career-high 32 points in overtime to propel the Wildcats (22-11).
