New St. John’s athletic director Mike Cragg is looking to raise his school’s profile and sees Madison Square Garden as a central part of that mission.

Cragg confirmed to The Post he’s in negotiations with the Garden and executive vice president of MSG Marquee Events Joel Fisher to have all Red Storm Big East home games there, and is also planning to play two significant non-conference games at MSG every year.

“We both want a good partnership, that’s the response [we’ve gotten from them],” he said in a phone interview shortly after St. John’s 97-94 overtime victory over Georgetown on Saturday. “That’s our goal and that’s been our goal from the beginning.

“Joel and I know what a good partnership looks like. We’ve had a lot of discussions. We’re still in talks about what it could look like. We’re going to keep pursuing that and came up with some sort of an agreement.”

St. John’s has played fewer games at the Garden in recent years. This year, it played just once at MSG in non-conference, against Princeton, and will host Seton Hall, Villanova, Georgetown and Providence in league play. Cragg is trying to change that trend.
“For us, it means we have to have a quality product,” he said. “We feel like we’re on the way to having that.”
