Derrick Valentine had an interception late in the fourth quarter to stop an Archbishop Stepinac drive and preserve a 14-12 win for No. 7 St. Peter’s in the CHSFL AA championship game last night at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.

Mike Dudley helped lead St. Peter’s (10-0) to a 14-0 halftime lead. He rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Top-seeded Stepinac (8-3) staged a second-half comeback, sparked by a pair of TDs by Tyler Nugent (48 yards on nine carries), but came up short on a two-point conversion attempt to tie the game.
