Not that there were any doubters left, but just in case, St. Raymond’s proved once again to be the best team in the city.

The Ravens (24-2) captured the CHSAA New York Diocesan title with a 54-50 win over Rice yesterday at Mount St. Michael — its third win over the Raiders this season.

Point guard Matt Augustin made a key steal down the stretch to preserve the Ravens’ lead. And that was not his most significant part in the game. Augustin held Rice’s Seton Hall-bound Andre Barrett scoreless. Barrett later fouled out.

The win gives St. Raymond’s a No. 1-seed and a first round bye in the CHSAA intersectionals.
