Stakes Spot Plays
SUNSHINE MILLIONS SPRINT
Santa Anita, fifth race, Purse: $200,000, Six furlongs, 4-year-olds and upward bred in California or Florida. Post 5:18.
LOWDOWN: The 8-year-old Cost of Freedom, third in the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, comes into this race with a three race winning streak. But David Fawkes ships out Apriority for his stakes debut and gets Rafael Bejarano to ride. Apriority should win with the veteran second.

SUNSHINE MILLION CLASSIC
Gulfstream, 10th race, Purse: $500,000, Mile and an eighth, 4-year-olds and upward bred in California or Florida. Post 5:26.
LOWDOWN: First Dude always was game and finished in the money in six consecutive graded stakes in 2010, but did not win a stakes. He removes the blinkers for his seasonal debut and hopefully he has matured and set himself up to become one of the leaders of the handicap division this year.

SUNSHINE MILLION TURF
Santa Anita, sixth race, Purse: 300,000, Mile and an eighth Turf, 4-year-olds and upward bred in California or Florida. Post 5:52.
LOWDOWN: Race has speed with Presious Passion, but the 8-year-old seems to have lost a step or two. Caracortado looked good winning his turf debut two back and comes into this race with a good work on the turf. He is the 7-2 third choice but could go off higher at post time.
