1ST RACE – Stars Aligned, 4-5 under Rudy Rodriguez, kicked off chalky day dropping to basement $7,500 claiming dash looking for first win since April ’04; trailed field early, made big inside move into contention around turn, was put in tight quarters and checked along rail when pacesetter Dixie Preacher drifted in slightly mid-stretch, swung out, took command final furlong. Port Au Prince made big late run for second.

2ND RACE – Cella Luna, also 4-5 dropping from New York-bred allowance ranks to $15G claimer for first time, had easier time of it under Alan Garcia; rallied wide under snug hold around far turn, split horses top of stretch, caught Gershowitz mid-stretch, drew clear final sixteenth. Gershowitz moved up outside down backside to duel for lead with Logical Art Form, edged away around far turn, dug in when challenged with furlong to run but could not stay with winner late.

3RD RACE – Our Bea, 4-year-old daughter of Hennessy making belated debut for Kiaran McLaughlin, was 1-4 choice under Rich Migliore off solid works in six-horse maiden field and ran to her odds. Sat off speed duel between Slam the Dee’s and Passion’s Destiny, quickly moved outside to take command while still in hand around turn, kicked clear under strong urging.

5TH RACE – Panina, favored at 5-2 with the Mig up in third start back off layoff, dashed to lead from outside post 8, cleared field into clubhouse turn, dropped to rail, controlled pace in hand chased by Genevil and Factual Contender, drew off around far turn, won as she pleased.

6TH RACE – Intimidating, after finishing last of 10 beaten 22 lengths as 2-1 favorite last out under Migliore, dropped from $50G to $35G maiden claimers for Gary Contessa, shot straight to lead under Rafael Bejarano, opened daylight, easily repulsed bid from 2-1 favorite Alexander when he came through to challenge on far turn, galloped home as much best.

7TH RACE – Day’s lone longshot, $27.40 Brushme On, coming off four-length maiden win at 22-1 for trainer Tom Bush, scored under aggressive ride by Mike Luzzi; hustled out of gate, raced in traffic around clubhouse turn as 3-2 favorite Swither shook loose on lead, went up after Swither down backside, battled with her around turn, stuck head in front top of stretch, wore down favorite in long drive.
