Withstanding a late rush by Best Of Luck, Successful Appeal won the 120th running of the Withers Stakes at Aqueduct by half length. It was another 41/4 lengths back to Treasure Island in third. Successful Appeal paid $11.20 to win.

The John Kimmel trainee had the early lead with Shut Out Time when no one seemed to want to run in front. Entering the stretch he pulled away from the field and at one point was three length in front. Best of Luck made a belated rally to make it close. The final time of the race was 1:35.18 over a fast track.

According to assistant trainer Loretta Lusteg ”I’m not sure where John [Kimmel] intends to run him next, but I do know that he’s considering several options.”
