‘SUGAR’ BAGS YONKERS TROT
The $449,637 Yonkers Trot was won by 1-2 favorite Sugar Trader and driver Cat Manzi in 1:58 3/5 last night at Yonkers Raceway.
Manzi followed early cover before tipping three wide approaching three quarters to take an easy lead and open up to win by 6½ lengths over On Tour. Solicitor Hanover was third.
“I had a good horse, so I wasn’t really concerned too much about how it went as long as things didn’t go terrible,” Manzi said. “When I started to move I had lots of trot and from there it was just the horse, I didn’t do anything fancy.”
This was Manzi’s second victory in Yonkers signature event having won in 1994 with Bullville Victory.
