Alvin Gentry has no interest in seeing a Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash reunion.

According to the Arizona Republic, the Suns coach jumped in on a Nash media session and was adamant that the point guard would not be traded out of Phoenix.

“Steve’s not going to be traded, that I can tell you,” Gentry told the paper. “If he’s getting traded, I’m going along with him, OK? Have you looked at the way he’s playing? He’s playing at a real high level. Why would we trade him? I don’t understand that. That’s nothing that’s been discussed here. It’s not going to happen.”

The Post reported last week there were rumblings out of Phoenix that if the Suns faltered they would be willing to trade the two-time MVP. The Knicks, who signed his former running-mate Stoudemire this offseason, likely would be one of the teams interested if Nash became available.

“I’ve done everything I possibly can for this club,” Nash said of the 3-4 Suns. “If that were an eventuality, we’d move on. There’s no real loyalty in sports. But I signed here (in 2009 with an extension through 2011-12) because I wanted to play with these guys and play for our fans. I’d love to stay here. My personal opinion is it’s a lot of chatter, not really substantial.”
