Sitting next to ex-Post colleague Andrew Marchand in the Yankees press box at Legends (Soon to be Steinbrenner) Field. The Yankees press box has been in mid-season form with all the Yankees news this week. It’s packed as usual.

Alex Rodriguez and the rest of the Yankees position players checked in today. A-Rod offered up his first media scrum in the dugout. Then there was Joe Girardi’s first official team meeting.

It’s 10 am and they just opened the gates of Legends Field and the fans are running to get the best seats even though there are no Yankees on the field. There are still plenty of Jeter and A-Rod

t-shirts, but without a doubt, Joba Chamberlain is the hot t-shirt of 2008.

At this time last year Joba was not even on the fan’s radar screen. I wrote about him in June (Joba The Hot) the first major piece on the right-hander and then once the Futures Game was played his career took off and now there are Chamberlain (62) shirts everywhere.

Everybody loves Joba.
