As the celebratory high jinks of the Monmouth bench has emerged as one of college basketball’s best stories this season, one high school “prospect” is redefining the highlight reel.
Nolan Eccker, a JV player for West Ottawa High School in Holland, Mich., put together a glorious 30-second supercut of his exploits this season: Rising up from his seat on the bench to clap and cheer when his teammates score.
In case it’s hard to spot No. 11 amid the crowd of warmup wearers, the video — uploaded to the scouting website Hudl — helpfully spotlights him in a freeze frame.
The 6-foot-1 sophomore Eccker is not lacking for confidence, or a sense of humor. When he posted the video to Twitter, he tagged the official handles for the Kentucky, Duke and Michigan college programs.
