An Italian second division team was forced to postpone its game against Frosinone on Saturday after an unexploded World War II bomb was found near the stadium, the club said on its Web site.

The bomb — dating back more than 60 years — had caused the evacuation of around 5,000 residents in the Salerno area on Friday, while bomb-disposal experts disarmed the weapon over the weekend.

“Having discussed the situation with the [Italian league], the game will be played at another time,” the club said in a statement.

Salernitana has amassed four points in just two Serie B games and is hoping to earn a spot in Serie A this spring.
