Mike Tirico will be the new afternoon voice for ESPN Radio, taking over for Dan Patrick, who left ESPN on Aug. 17.

Tirico’s show will premiere nationally on Thursday in the 1-3 p.m. time slot. Listeners on 1050 AM in New York will get Tirico from 1-2 p.m. before Stephen A. Smith starts his two-hour program.

Tirico, a Whitestone native, would not comment specifically on his contract, but did say this was not a short-term situation.
