It’s Top 10 Tuesday and the subject is Baseball Films. My list includes documentaries as well as movies. These are 10 Baseball Films that I can watch over and over again. Let me know your Top 10, too.

No. 10 BASEBALL: A Film by Ken Burns

This is always a treat to watch. Burns blends together the game in his wonderful way, making you feel as though you are talking to your grandfather about the game.

No. 9 LONG GONE

You probably haven’t seen it. Get it and enjoy. Bull Durham before Bull Durham.

No. 8 PRIDE OF THE YANKEES

A classic that even a Mets fan could enjoy.

No. 7 FOR LOVE OF THE GAME

Kevin Costner really does capture the game in this one about an aging star picher coming to the end of the road and the beginning of a new life. Kelly Preston is always worth watching, too.

No. 6 EIGHT MEN OUT

This one really takes you to the era when the owners called all the shots and the players were pawns and the game was an experience.

No. 5 THE NATURAL

A little too rich at times, but a classic. Best watched on a cold, rainy day like today.

No. 4 A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN

There’s no crying in baseball. Enough said.

No. 3 MAJOR LEAGUE

Just watched it again the other night. There are some people in Cleveland who think this is a documentary.

No. 2 FIELD OF DREAMS

Costner does it again with a fantastic cast and imaginative story. Makes you want to move to Iowa.

No. 1 BULL DURHAM

Costner wins his own Triple Crown. It’s fitting that the best baseball film is about life in the minors. The game is what matters.
