An afternoon press conference to announce Jayvaughn Pinkston’s college choice has been canceled, and the top-rated New York City basketball player said he will put that decision on hold until the spring.

“I’m going to wait,” he told The Post, declining to elaborate.

The 6-foot-6 senior at Bishop Loughlin, the seventh-ranked power forward in the nation by Scout.com, was believed to be favoring Tennessee, with one published report saying the decision had already been made.

That did seem to be the case Tuesday, when a press conference was scheduled at the Fort Greene school for Wednesday at 3 p.m.

But those plans have been scrapped, and it might have something to do with Tobias Harris, the No. 2 ranked power forward by Scout.com, reportedly making a late visit to Tennessee on Tuesday after checking out Georgia Tech on Monday.

“Jayvaughn will not be making his announcement today,” said Kimani Young, Pinkston’s adviser and the athletic director at New Heights. “He’s not 100 percent sure where he wants to go to school so he’ll wait until the spring to make his decision.”

When news began to emerge almost two weeks ago that Pinkston was going to choose Tennessee, he told the Post he had not made that decision yet.

Tennessee, Villanova, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Marquette are in the running for Pinkston, who averaged 24.6 points and led Loughlin to the CHSAA Class AA intersectional semifinals a year ago.

Harris, a 6-foot-8 senior at Half Hollows Hills High on Long Island, reportedly will announce his college decision Thursday. He is considering Tennessee, Syracuse, West Virginia and Louisville.
