The NBA lottery worked in Portland’s favor, giving them the number one pick in the draft with which they’ll likely chose either Ohio State’s standout Greg Oden, or Kevin Durant.

Jerry West, the Memphis Grizzlies president, expressed his displeasure with the weighted lottery system. Neither his team, the Celtics nor the Milwaukee Bucks — the league’s three worst teams — had a shot at Oden or Durant, who is likely to go to Seattle. Instead, the bottom three clubs are left with the fourth, fifth and sixth draft picks. The third pick was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks.
