The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports today that the Twins and Johan Santana haven’t disucssed extending the left-hander’s contract rather than trading him before he becomes a free agent.
The report says, “fans shouldn’t hold their breath hoping the Twins will suddenly sign Santana to a contract extension. … The Twins don’t want to bring Santana to camp under these circumstances, but they also don’t want to trade him for what they perceive as 20 cents on the dollar in terms of talent return.”
The Twins report to spring training Feb. 17.
