Marshall got buried by No. 5 West Virginia 94-71 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, and it was never particularly close. But in a game with little to offer, the internet found something — or someone — to get excited about.
His name is Ot Elmore.
The Thundering Herd’s senior guard got in at the end of the game, and Twitter instantly went wild, heaping praise — and jokes — on the portly, balding older brother of Marshall star Jon Elmore.
His rec league player’s physique and glorious tenacity — he picked up four fouls, including a technical, in nine minutes of play — inspired those of us who wonder whether we could participate in March Madness to say: yes, we probably could.
He also scored three points and earned the admiration of entire Twitter-verse:
Ot Elmore has played one minute, has three fouls and a three pointer.

It's pretty cool that Ot Elmore gets to play with his son John right now. Not everyday a 45 year old gets to play in the tourney with his boy …

If Ot Elmore getting T'd up is not in One Shining Moment, I'm quitting college basketball

Can we please allow a one time transfer to acquire Ot Elmore for the next round. I need more of his grit on my TV. #whitelightning#theintimidator#foulcity#wvu

Through all of it, Elmore seemed to maintain a sense of humor about himself:
Just another reason for us all to love Ot.
