DAYTON, Ohio — Just one more day until the fun really begins. Here’s two picks to pass the time:
Dayton (-4) over Boise State: The Flyers could make a case for much better seeding after finishing second in the Atlantic 10 and reaching the conference tournament title game, but lucked out by getting to play at home, where they are 16-0 this season, with wins against two NCAA Tournament teams (Ole Miss, VCU) and two NIT teams (Richmond, Rhode Island).
The Broncos deserve better than having to be the only team to play a true road game in the tournament, even after losing in the Mountain West Tournament, with their 7-5 road record making them far too risky against a team which reached the Elite Eight last year.
Robert Morris (+3) over North Florida: Despite similar geography and an up-tempo offense, North Florida is not Florida Gulf Coast’s 2013 team reincarnated. The Ospreys are the more talented team, but the Colonials have one of the best young coaches in the country (Andy Toole), have won six straight games and just pulled off an even more impressive upset, winning at top-seeded St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC title game.
2015 record: 12-11
2011-14 record: 106-67-5
