The Yankees are the only team that can really think about having stats like this, of course, because they are the only baseball team who’s been in the postseason this often. But if history is any indicator, you have to like their chances. Because against the other seven teams in the baseball postseason, the Yankees are a combined 18-4, all-time, in postseason series, broken down thusly:

Twins 3-0 (ALDS 2003-04-09)

Rangers 3-0 (ALDS 1996-98-99)

Phillies 2-0 (World Series 1950-2009)

Braves 3-1 (World Series wins in 1958-96-99; loss in 1957)

Reds 2-1 (World Series wins in 1939-61, loss in 1976)

Giants 5-2.(World Series wins in 1923-36-37-51-62, losses in 1921-22)

Remember us?: The Patriots are never more interesting — or dangerous — than when they play with chips on their shoulders. And with everyone wondering how good they were after surrendering 30 points to the woeful Bills a week ago … well, let’s just say they playted as if they enjoyed every second of their thrashing of the Dolphins last night.

Shark alert: I have to admit, I don’t think I laughed once in the last two weeks of “How I Met Your Mother.” Aging sit-coms can be as sad to watch as aging centerfielders.

You talking to me?: Not sure which was funnier, the notion of the Jets being mad that the Bills had been allegedly “talking trash” before Sunday’s 38-14 Jets win, or the notion that Jets coaches were able to sell the players that such talk was happening at all, since it’s awfully hard to find any of it.
