Jozy Altidore and Villarreal lost their manager on Monday, and replaced him on Tuesday. The club replaced Manuel Pellegrini today by signing fast-rising Ernesto Valverde.

The team inked Valverde to a one-year deal with an option for a second after watching Pellegrini bolt for the plum Real Madrid job. But they got a good replacement, as the former Spanish international Valverde was surprisingly let go by Olympiakos after leading the Greek team to a league-cup double.
