MET NOTES

PHILADELPHIA – One Wilson’s back, and the other one’s gone.

Vance Wilson returned from his stint on the disabled list last night after missing approximately three weeks with a strained right hamstring.

At least your scorecards won’t change much – to make room for him, the Mets optioned catcher Tom Wilson to Norfolk.

“I feel real good,” said Vance, who homered in each of his last two rehab games.

“I tested it the last two nights on the bases. Seems all right.”

Prior to this, Wilson had never had a leg injury. As a result, he said, one thing he did while rehabbing in St. Lucie was develop some empathy for people who have injuries and are trying to come back.

“I can sympathize with people who had injuries who are afraid to test it,” he said.

Karim Garcia (left wrist tendinitis) was set to play his final rehab game last night for Double-A Binghamton.

Garcia will likely join the Mets in Philly tonight and be activated in Miami tomorrow. The question now is, whom will he replace on the roster?

“That one’s going to be a tough decision,” manager Art Howe said.

Howe said the Mets might go with 11 pitchers. That could mean Orber Moreno or Jose Parra will be demoted to Triple-A.

Tom Glavine has logged 1222/3 innings this year, but one more won’t kill him. Asked if he would not want his 38-year-old ace to pitch in the All-Star Game in order to rest him, Howe said, “I’d be fine if he throws.”
