It’s been over two years since Chien-Ming Wang has thrown a pitch a major-league game, a drought the former Yankees ace seems about to end.

Wang has made three rehab starts in the Nationals’ minor-league system. In his most recent appearance for Double-A Harrisburg, Wang threw five shutout innings and hit 92 mph on the radar gun. He will make another rehab start Wednesday and is hopeful to be in Washington’s rotation by the end of July.

“I’m almost there,” Wang told the Washington Post recently.

GM Mike Rizzo said, “He looks great, doesn’t he?”

It’s an investment that’s finally paying off for the Nationals, who signed Wang before the 2010 season only to watch the two-time 19-game winner battle shoulder problems in his year-plus with the organization.
