Like many partygoers, Denis Kang probably wasn’t feeling too good on New Year’s Day.

Bruising kickboxer Melvin Manhoef knocked Kang out with a devastating knee to the body just 50 seconds into the fight Tuesday at DREAM 18 in Tokyo, Japan.

Manhoef, though inconsistent, remains one of the most explosive, exciting knockout artists in the world. He’s won three in a row and, at 38, it might be time for a United States organization – maybe Bellator – to give him one more chance.

Also at DREAM 18, which was held at the Saitama Super Arena, Japanese standout Shinya Aoki beat Antonio McKee in the second round by verbal submission after a huge right hand. Surpising considering Aoki is known for submissions of the jiu-jitsu variety.

Tatsuya Kawajiri beat struggling Michihiro Omigawa by decision and Marloes Coenen, making a bid for a UFC contract, submitted Fiona Muxlow in the first round.
