Week 1 waiver targets
It happens every year: Week 1 whiplash. Fantasy owners have rash reactions to opening-week studs and duds. Good players get cut too early. Owners scramble to pick up one-week wonders.
The successful owner will no which players to target, which ones to keep, and which ones to keep an eye on. That’s what the Tracker is for, to let you know what Week 1 performances should carry over into future weeks, and which ones won’t.
PICK ‘EM UP
These players likely are avilalbe on the waiver wire, and have the potential to be regular contributors or at least solid bye-week fill-ins.
Michael Bush, RB, Raiders
Looks to get large share of carries in split with Darren McFadden.
Mark Clayton, WR, Ravens
Younger and faster than veteran Derrick Mason.
Mark Sanchez, QB, Jets
Maybe he is worth a backup spot after all.
Earl Bennett, WR, Bears
Vandy connection with QB Jay Cutler will help, at least early in season.
DON’T PANIC
These guys didn’t look good in Week 1, but they’ll bounce back.
Matt Forte, RB, Bears
Bears weren’t prepared for Packers new defensive scheme.
LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, Chargers
Raiders played inspired, and LT had ankle problem. But red flag is up.
TIME TO WORRY
Week 1 struggles could be a sign of things to come.
Steve Smith, WR, Panthers
QB problems could cut into his production.
Terrell Owens, WR, Bills
Was invisible in game Bills should have won.
