Shawne Alston rushed for two second-half touchdowns, including a 1-yarder with 6:10 left, and West Virginia came from 10 points down to beat Pittsburgh 21-20 last night in Morgantown, W. Va.
West Virginia sacked Tino Sunseri 10 times, including four on Pittsburgh’s final drive, when time ran out on the Panthers.
The Mountaineers (8-3, 4-2 Big East) can earn a share of the conference title next week at South Florida. West Virginia also hold slim hopes for earning the league’s automatic BCS berth.
Pittsburgh (5-6, 3-3) led 17-7 at halftime but was limited to 80 yards in the second half.
Louisville 34, South Florida 24
In Tampa, Fla., Louisville got three touchdown passes from freshman quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to clinch a share of the Big East championship.
Louisville (7-5, 5-2), which rallied from a two-touchdown deficit in the first half, took the lead for good on Bridgewater’s 10-yard pass to DeVante Parker with 9:38 remaining. Bridgewater finished 19 of 28 for 241 yards.
Louisville, which began the season 2-4 before winning five of its last six regular-season games, can capture the Big East’s berth in a Bowl Championship Series game if Cincinnati loses once more and West Virginia loses next week.
South Florida (5-6, 1-5) played the entire game with sophomore quarterback Bobby Eveld, a former walk-on, because of a shoulder injury to starter B.J. Daniels.
Nebraska 20, Iowa 7
In Lincoln, Neb., Rex Burkhead, who started the week with his right foot in a walking boot, ran for 160 yards and a touchdown on a school-record 38 carries for No. 22 Nebraska (9-3, 5-3).
Burkhead looked like his old self after being held to a season-low 36 yards in last week’s loss at Michigan.
The Hawkeyes (7-5, 4-4) avoided getting shut out for the first time in 11 years when Marcus Coker scored on a 2-yard run with 3:26 left.
Houston 48, Tulsa 16
In Tulsa, Okla., Case Keenum threw for 457 yards and five touchdowns, Patrick Edwards had 181 yards receiving and four scores and No. 8 Houston (12-0, 8-0) earned a spot in the Conference USA championship game. Tulsa (8-4, 7-1) entered allowing just 16 points per game.
BC 24, Miami 17
In Miami, Luke Kuechly ran an interception back for a touchdown and became Boston College’s all-time tackles leader, and the Eagles (4-8, 3-5 ACC) picked Jacory Harris off four times in his final college game. Lamar Miller had a 79-yard touchdown run for Miami (6-6, 3-5).
