WILD YEARS ACTS UP AGAIN
RD RACE – Nouvelle stalked the pace while saving ground and then was full of run turning for home. She bullied her way outside to a clear running lane, bumping with Soixante Dix. She then took off to gain the lead and hold off Getadderit for the victory. Soixante Dix held well in the stretch after the bumping incident to finish third.
TH RACE – After throwing Richard Migliore off in the paddock twice in his debut, Wild Years behaved perfectly in the paddock this time. But then he started his antics again. He refused to load into the gate and then Mig had to hop off as many members of the gate crew had to help load him into the gate. He broke well and battled with Syrian Dancer for the early lead. He looked strong on the turn, but once Hadrian’s Wall hooked him at the top of the stretch, he couldn’t hold him off and finished second best. He does have a future ahead of him and could be one to watch, especially in the Queen’s Plate at Woodbine since he is a Canadian-bred.
TH RACE – Seeking It All was stakes-placed last year and actually was favored in the Grade 1 Spinaway. But she finished third and came out of the race with a fracture of the wing in her right coffin bone. In her return to the races in April, she was all out to defeat state-bred maidens, winning by a nose after a rough trip. In this spot, she broke awkwardly but then stalked the early pace. She took the lead on the turn but then couldn’t hold off Jezabel Cant Spell for the victory. She obviously isn’t the same horse as last year and may not develop into what most expected of her.
TH RACE – Favored Serene Ditty rated off the pace while wide and then tried to make a run on the far turn. But when Romantic Novel started to tire and bear out, Serene Ditty was forced to check and was eliminated from the race. Dame d’Loc raced wide throughout and came up empty in the stretch drive. Tropic Depression was taken off Lasix for this spot and fell back badly entering the far turn.
TH RACE – Favored Bon Fearless ducked in at the start and then rated off the early pace set by Eventail. She started to move up on the turn and was in good striking position turning for home. But Crescent Coast was full of run and drew off for the victory while Bon Fearless flattened out in the stretch and ended up third.
